The Love Songs of Motown

Mercury/UME

5 stars

If you’re looking for a unique gift for Valentines Day, look no further than “The Love Songs of Motown.” This twelve song CD features material from some of Motown’s biggest names – The Temptations, the Four Tops and the Supremes to mention just a few. Of the twelve selections, ten were Top 40 hits, six were Top 10 and two went all the way to #1. While you may already have some, or all, of the songs featured on this compilation, there are a few songs to take note of. Both “My Girl” (The Temptations) and “Baby I Need Your Loving” (Four Tops) are extended stereo mixes, while the original version of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” (Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell) is an alternate mix version. All in all, a nice selection of Motown love songs from the 60s.
