American Dreams – Original Soundtrack 1963-1964

Hip-O Records

3 stars

This 15 song CD features both classic and modern recordings of some of the biggest hits of the 1960s as seen and heard on NBC’s “American Dreams.” Nine of the songs are by the original artists such as The Beach Boys “Don’t Worry Baby” and Martha and the Vandellas “Heat Wave.” The other six songs are recordings of some of those 60s classics by modern artists. For example, Duncan Sheik does a bang up job on the Bobby Darin classic “Beyond the Sea” and Vanessa Carlton captures Dusty Springfield’s essence with “Wishin’ and Hopin’.” Although not all of the songs are originals, they certainly have that original sound.
