Ron Townson
Member of The 5th Dimension
1933-2001
Ron Townson of the 5th Dimension passed away after a four year battle with kidney disease. He was 68 years old. The 5th Dimension entertained the world with hits such as “Up-Up And Away”, “Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In” and “If I Could Reach You”. A lot of their songs were sung by Marilyn McCoo with the rest of the group providing great backup. Ron and fellow 5th D LaMonte McLemore formed a singing group called the Versatiles in 1965. Billy Davis, another original member of the 5th Dimension, and Marilyn McCoo were married in 1969, bringing the 5th Dimension closer together. In 1997, Ron had to stop performing in public to concentrate on his health.
